Windows 7 Hardware Requirements

Hardware requirements for Microsoft Windows operating systems are usually split into 3 sets: the official minimum requirements, the official recommended system requirements, and the third-party recommended system/hardware requirements.

Recommended System Requirements

NeoSmart Technologies' Recommended System Requirements

Microsoft's requirements traditionally result in less-than-ideal performance for typical- to power-users; so NeoSmart Technologies has compiled our own list detailing what we feel are the recommend system requirements that will result in an enjoyable experience:

wth are the minimum requirements
i am talking about ram ,cpu , hd space, ..

If you can run Vista in your system, you can run Windows 7 in it. The system requirements of Windows 7 is the same as Windows Vista.

Microsoft, youre not doing a very good job with this. Are the system requirements lower then the requirements for Vista or not?

I am testing the beta version of Windows 7 build 6801 and it works well with 370mb of ram and a pentium 4 cpu @ 2.0ghz then i am testing on dual core 2.4ghz with 2gb of ram runs excellent. Have to say Micorsoft made some nice improvements so far. they took off the ram requirment of 512mb.

A business and a corporation are basically synonymous.

Posted by Anonymous at Dec 23, 2008 00:29 | Reply To This

no, actually, the requirements are this:

Basic: 512 Mb of RAM
1.2Ghz Processor
64Mb graphics card ---must support 32 bits per pixel
15Gb free hard disk space, and a 20Gb hard drive required

Premium/Ultimate - 1Gb of RAM minimum(runs alright with 1Gb) 2Gb or more recommended.
1.8 Ghz processor AMD or Intel, both are supported
128 Mb Graphics Card with Directx10 capabilities - this is minimum

You want at least 2GB of RAM for Windows 7 Beta. With 1Gb it runs pretty good, but you get the most out of it with 1Gb. 128 Mb graphics card is fine, and at least 15 Gb of hard disk. If you have all of this, then you're good to go. i have the beta version of windows 7, and sadly but truely, it runs better than vista does now.

I'm running windows 7 6801 on a 2.4 pentium 4 with 512mb ram and an ati 9600. I installed it in a 22 gb partition dual booting with XP. It was a fast, trouble free install. Dropped the dvd on the tray, clicked install custom, selected a clean partition, walked away and came back to Windows 7 running on a six year old machine. I am currently running portal on the machine.

I just installed it on a Virtual Machine, with 64M VGA, 1024M RAM, and my PC runs XP SP3 and has a P4 (2.8 GHz). It installed without a glitch, runs relatively all right.

512MB RAM is the minimum for build 6801.

Don't be a moron. If you had done any damn research, you would know the requirements for Windows 7 ARE EXACTLY THE SAME AS VISTA!!!

Posted by Anonymous at Jan 01, 2009 19:00 | Reply To This

Is it true that the Windows 7 will be the last Windows OS that is support the 32-bit CPU-s?

I don't think so. It seems to me that that is too radical change for program developers etc.

Posted by Anonymous at Dec 28, 2008 08:33 | Reply To This

by the looks of the beta so far it is just windows vista sp2 a few adjustments that couple be done with a patch to vista

I do believe that windows 7 is the same as Vista as for all and even sys requirements, you can call it windows vista SP3 or whatever...

Posted by Anonymous at Dec 28, 2008 12:25 | Reply To This

Every idiot feels so cool to say "these are the system requirements" lol, pathetic...

I assume Windows 7 would need less requirements than Vista. the Kernel thing is a good improvement and in my opinion Microsoft is trying to repair its mistake with Vista and making it COMPATIBLE (like win xp), FASTER (like win xp) and support future standards/technologies (unlike win xp in future)

In my opinion there should have been 48-bit processors, faster than 32-bit, support more ram/things but be better for developers then 64-bit. (don't really know technical things regarding this)

Posted by Anonymous at Dec 30, 2008 00:50 | Reply To This

CPUs are usually built with a number of bits that is a power of 2 (i.e. 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64 ....) it has to do with the binary that computers use.

Posted by Anonymous at Jan 05, 2009 05:43 | Reply To This

you are just as pathetic

I am going to try and install W7 Ultimate on a AMD 2800+ 1.6Ghz, 768MB ram and a 20 gig hard drive I will let you guys know how it goes I will slowly upgrade one thing at a time until it installs

I just wanted to post this for you folks out there, I just happen to get my hands on that "accidently released" Win 7 Build 7000 from the Bittorrent World. Decided I try to install it in Microsoft Virtual PC, Using WinXp virtual pc with only 512 Ram dedicated to it. I like to let you know it WOULD not install ontop of a WINXP, There is a window that says that it cannot be done, However it DID do a clean install in that Virtual PC, On my system inside the virtual PC it took it approx 2Hrs to install. IT RUNS! Now get this, I moved the Virtual PC files to a 16 GIG USB... Guess what.. IT runs from the USB in a virtual PC. I have not DUAL/ Triple booted it yet as well. But I dont see why it wont work since it appeared to install like Vista in my Vista Dual boot system.
